After hearing how beautiful York was, but never having been able to go ourselves, my boyfriend and I decided to book a night in a studio apartment just a couple of minutes walk from the centre. Mid afternoon Sunday we pulled into the station and instead of getting a taxi, took the picturesque walk into the town which took us past some pretty gardens and over the bridge of the River Ouse. The city is surrounded by walls and its' historic architecture does not disappoint.

Gluten Free Dining at Filmore & Union
Last Autumn myself, my Mum and Grandma went to Skipton for the day and decided to go for a lunch at a place called 'Filmore & Union'. We hadn't eaten there before so I was fairly apprehensive - as I always am when eating out - but after reading the menu I was more than pleasantly surprised!
There wasn't a separate menu which was nice, but instead they had put little icons next to the dishes advising if it was gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and/or dairy free. There was so much to choose from and so many interesting/creative dishes that I'd never seen offered as gluten free before, all made from healthy fresh foods which is always a bonus.
I can honestly say that it was the first time since being diagnosed with Coeliac Disease that I'd been properly spoilt for choice! For a drink I chose the coconut milk and cacao hot chocolate, it was slightly bitter so maybe not to everyone's taste but so creamy & in my opinion - the perfect hot drink for a very cold day in Autumn.
