My Top Skin Care Tips

When it comes to skin care, we tend to just go with what works but most of us don't really know that much. I realized how little I actually knew when I went to college and learned all about the skin! This post isn't going to be full of information as I'll be doing more detailed posts about each topic with more information later on. For now though here are some quick tips I use to help keep my skin as clean and healthy as possible.

DRINK MORE WATER: we hear this all the time but it really is so important! It frees your body of toxins and has so many health benefits. If like me you find it hard to drink water because of its bland taste, add a slice of lemon, not only does it give it a beautiful fresh taste, it also has many health benefits!

CLEANSE,TONE&MOISTURISE: Something I didn't do until college and now do twice a day. (first thing in the morning and last thing at night).

AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE: I didn't realize I did this so much until I started college and had to stop doing as I was dealing with clients. The amount of dirt and bacteria you collect on your hands throughout the day is crazy! Try avoid touching your face as best you can. Now I've pointed it out you may realize how much you actually do it

WASH YOUR HANDS: As I mentioned in the previous tip, you collect so much dirt and bacteria through the day so before touching your face wash your hands.

EXFOLIATING IS KEY!: You should exfoliate your skin once, maybe twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells and leave your skin silky smooth and radiant.

DON'T OVER CLEAN YOUR SKIN: As important as it is to keep your skin clear, you can end up overdoing it and stripping your skin of its natural oils.

USE WARM WATER: Warm water opens your pores and therefore allows you to get the dirt out, however once you've cleaned your skin splash cold water over your face/and body to close the pores back up! Don't ever use hot water as this is damaging to both your hair and skin.

BE GENTLE WITH YOUR SKIN: Too often I see people scrubbing and dragging their skin and it makes me cringe so much! You have to be so careful and gentle especially around the eye area as the skin there is paper thin and super sensitive! You barely have to touch your skin when cleaning it or removing makeup, it may take longer but being more gentle will prevent wrinkles, redness and inflammation.

DAMPEN COTTON WOOL: Cotton wool is an irritant to the skin when dry, you should therefore dampen it with warm water before use.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT: This is so true! What & how much you eat is so important for your health. A balanced diet gives your body all the nutrients it needs and the better your diet, the better your body works, meaning clearer skin!

GET THE CORRECT PRODUCTS FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE: There are 5 main skin types; dry, oily, combination, sensitive and normal. It is fairly easy to find out what skin type you are, so once you know you can start to look for the right products to suit your skin type!

AVOID FACE WIPES: As handy as they are to use when you need to quickly cleanse, they should not be part of your daily routine, the material is harsh for your skin and they are filled with various chemicals so that they keep for longer. Instead use a make up remover or a cleanser.

KEEP YOUR PRODUCTS NATURAL&ORGANIC: Although many of the products on the shelves today claim to be natural and organic, they've actually just been clever with their choice of words and/or aren't as natural as we think. (I will do a post about this in more detail of things to look out for and how to make your own skin care products)
